Purbeck Film Festival: Mr Nobody Against Putin (15)

We are delighted, once again, to be screening films as part of the Purbeck Film Festival.

Pavel Talankin is not your typical investigative journalist. The 30-something videographer lives in a small industrial town and works as an event coordinator at his local school. A contrast to the staunch profile of the other teachers, his classroom is a safe haven for the schoolkids. When Russia launches its full-scale invasion in Ukraine, life at the school takes a dark turn and Pavel uses his camera to document the militarisation of his students. As other activists become imprisoned under new laws, and locals begin to uncover Pavel’s opposition to the regime, his safety in Russia is thrown into jeopardy. Filmed in secret over two years, Mr Nobody Against Mr Putin is a brilliant and daring investigation into freedom and democracy, right under Putin’s nose. Danish with subtitles.

Directed by Pasha Talankin, David Borenstein.
