Swanage Literary Festival: Dr Andrew Norman – A Purbeck Romance
Come and hear Dr Andrew Norman reflect on his personal experiences which are explored in this engaging book.
After an injury, which resulted in him relinquishing his career as a GP in Poole, Andrew became motivated to pursue a career in writing and went on to produce many biographies, some of which are linked to Dorset, not least those relating to Lawrence of Arabia and Thomas Hardy.
This book is an account of travels he made with his then future wife, Rachel, around the Isle of Purbeck, following in the steps of Thomas Hardy, who had written his novel ‘The Hand of Ethelberta’ in Swanage. The heroine of the book visits many local places of interest, which will resonate strongly with those knowing the area.
