Beginners Ukulele Workshop

Have you always wanted to play a musical instrument but didn’t know where to start? The ukulele is the perfect gateway! It’s highly accessible, affordable, and incredibly rewarding to learn.
Join us for an interactive, hands-on session led by two professional ukulele workshop practitioners. Specifically designed for absolute beginners, this comprehensive introductory workshop requires zero prior musical experience or note-reading skills. We break down the basics into simple, fun steps so you can get a great start.
What You’ll Learn:
• How to hold, tune, and care for your uke
• Essential beginner chords and transitions
• Fun, versatile strumming patterns
• How to read basic ukulele TAB
Event Details & Accessibility:
• Experience Level: Absolute Beginner (Zero experience necessary!)
• Age Policy: Open to all ages. Under 18s are very welcome, provided they are accompanied by a participating adult. It’s a fantastic bonding weekend activity for families!
• What to Bring: Bring your own ukulele, or contact us in advance to borrow a loaner instrument (subject to availability – please email rpukulelelessons@yahoo.com to check availability). Bring your enthusiasm, we’ll supply the rest!
• Why the Ukulele? It is lightweight, portable, and widely considered one of the easiest instruments to pick up. Whether you want to sing along around a campfire, play for your kids, or just find a relaxing new hobby, this workshop is your perfect first step.
• Stay and Play: The Uke Collective will be performing in the Showbar from 7:00pm. Feel free to come along, join in for a few songs, and put your new skills into practice!

Improvers Ukulele Workshop
60 minute session – £11 incl booking fee – scroll down to book
Can already play a few chords but feel you’ve hit a plateau? If you’re comfortable playing C, Am, F and G, this workshop is the perfect next step. Designed for players with some basic experience, we’ll help you build confidence, expand your chord vocabulary, improve your strumming, and make changing chords smoother and more natural.
Join us for an interactive, hands-on session led by two professional ukulele workshop practitioners. Through practical exercises and fun songs, you’ll develop the techniques needed to become a more fluent and confident player in a relaxed and supportive environment.
What You’ll Learn:
• New essential chords to expand your repertoire
• Faster, smoother chord changes
• A variety of strumming patterns and rhythms
• Tips for playing songs with greater confidence and musicality
Event Details & Accessibility:
• Experience Level: Improvers (You should already be able to play C, Am, F and G comfortably.)
• Age Policy: Open to all ages. Under 18s are very welcome, provided they are accompanied by a participating adult. It’s a fantastic bonding weekend activity for families!
• What to Bring: Please bring your own ukulele. Also bring a tuner if you have one, along with your enthusiasm, we’ll supply the rest!
• Why Attend? Learning a few new chords and techniques can open up hundreds of new songs. Whether you want to play more confidently with friends, accompany your singing, or simply enjoy making music even more, this workshop will help you take that next step.
