She studied Jazz Vocals (BMUS Hons) at Trinity College of Music\, Greenwich\, training with leading figures including Anton Browne\, Anita Wardell\, Mark Lockheart and Phil Peskett. An active presence on the UK jazz and swing scenes\, she performs regularly at venues such as Ronnie Scott’s\, The 606 Club and The Vortex\, leading her band King Candy and The Sugar Push and smaller ensembles. Kate is a founding member of chart-topping trio The Puppini Sisters\, touring worldwide and earning a Gold Disc. \nPhil Doyle – pianoPhil is an extremely accomplished musician and one of the most sought after jazz pianists in the South. He has performed alongside many American touring musicians such as Scott Hamilton\, Bobby Shew and Pee Wee Ellis\, as well as some of the top UK artists such as Alan Barnes\, Mark Nightingale and Tina May. DESCRIPTION:Soul to Soul (U)\nSaturday screening is followed by DJ Supersonic Si with a vinyl soul set in the Showbar – from 9 til late! Open to everyone\, but we recommend you see the film first! \nIn February 1971\, several dozen African American soul\, jazz\, and gospel artists embarked on a journey that would change the lives of everyone involved. They travelled from New York City to Ghana\, West Africa to take part in a 13-hour concert entitled Soul To Soul. The concert was a celebration of 14 years of Ghana’s independence from British rule. For most of these artists\, it would be their first trip to Africa. For the African American musicians\, this was a journey about personal roots\, the ancestral homeland\, history\, discovery\, loss\, pain and joy. \nDirected by Academy AwardⓇ winner Denis Sanders and produced by Tom Mosk & Richard Bock\, the resulting concert film/documentary had a limited theatrical run in late 1971.  \nNow\, 55 years later\, Soul to Soul will have another chance to connect with audiences worldwide. Steve Scoville of Blue H2O Productions\, restored the original edit by reconstructing each scene using the high quality 2K transfers from the original film elements\, which were shot in the 4:3 aspect ratio. DESCRIPTION:Budapest Café Orchestra\nIn 2009 Christian Garrick established the refreshingly unconventional and snappily attired Budapest Café Orchestra with the intention to present a broad range of music from all over the world in the most entertaining and fun way.  BCO perform all their music from memory. Combined their trademark wit and charm\, audiences are left tingling with warmth\, delight and amazement.Each member of the orchestra is a freelance musician in their own right.  Adrian teaches school-age musicians of all standards and is curator of the fabled Imperial Balalaika Orchestra of Overton. Christian is a professor of jazz violin at Guildhall School of Music\, Royal Academy of Music\, and Royal College of Music in London. Marcus is one of UK’s most in-demand accordionistas often found playing at many a West End show in his spare time. DESCRIPTION:Jazz in the Showbar: Véronique Joly & Rob Palmer\nParis-born vocalist Véronique Joly began performing live at 17\, cutting her teeth on the Paris music scene before moving to London. Her diverse projects have included co-writing and recording a song for the BBC programme Rick Stein: French Odyssey. Her latest work features a collaboration with master vibraphonist Roger Beaujolais and her Getz/Gilberto Bossa Nova project with saxophonist Terry Quinney. A lover of languages\, Véronique sings in English\, French\, and Portuguese. \nGuitarist Rob Palmer has toured and recorded with pianist John Law\, saxophonist Jon Lloyd\, Soft Machine saxophonist Theo Travis and Jamiroquai keyboard player Matt Johnston. In addition to this he has toured with USA jazz singer Lila Ammons and rising sax star Tom Waters.
