Become a Trustee at The Mowlem
Are you passionate about the arts and eager to make a meaningful impact on your local community? The Mowlem in Swanage is looking for four dedicated new Trustees to help shape the Mowlem’s future.
About The Mowlem
Situated in the heart of Swanage, The Mowlem is an essential part of cultural life in Purbeck. The Mowlem has a 400-seat venue hosting hundreds of events annually. Our lineup includes theatre, film, music, and comedy. We support local amateur theatre groups and have recently introduced a visual arts space and small-scale studio performances.
We’re dedicated to accessibility, community involvement, and artistic excellence. In recent years, we’ve expanded our public outreach, broadened our programming, and enhanced theoverall audience experience.
With an annual turnover of over £400,000 — mainly from ticket sales — The Mowlem became revenue-funded by Dorset Council in 2024. We’re working to secure additional funding from public bodies, trusts, and individuals to fuel our future growth.
With a newly appointed Executive Director, we’re focused on modernising our building, improving accessibility, expanding our offerings, supporting local talent, and creating new educational opportunities.
