Mowlem Big Weekend – History Box with Purbeck Sounds

We’re inviting you to think back and share your stories of The Mowlem. Maybe you had your first date tucked away in the back row of the stalls, waited nervously backstage for a school performance, or danced your heart out as part of a local troupe. Whether you’re a lifelong resident or a holidaymaker who visited once upon a time, so many of us have memories old and new, tied to this building.

Some of you may even remember the original Mowlem Institute, long before the theatre we know today was built.

Come along, have a chat, and tell us your stories. We’ll be recording memories to feature on the Purbeck Sounds history show and working with The Mowlem to develop them into something even bigger.

Cathy Phippard presents H’our Local History on Purbeck Sounds. Born and raised in Swanage, Cathy’s family roots run deep in the area — many will remember the Phippard name from the days of Phippard’s Campsite. 

Cathy is part of the Purbeck Sounds team collecting memories for the History Box.
