Our Spaces
The Mowlem is home to three distinct spaces, each suited to a different kind of event. Whatever you’re planning, there’s a space here for it.
The Auditorium
Our 380-seat auditorium spans two levels, with stalls and circle seating, a large proscenium stage, professional lighting and sound, and a state-of-the-art cinema system. It hosts everything from community pantomime and touring theatre to top comedy names, festivals and film screenings, and is also available to hire for events, conferences and rehearsals.
The Showbar
Swanage’s best kept secret, a first-floor bar with panoramic views of the bay, a varied programme of live music, a monthly quiz and open mic nights, plus locally sourced beer, cider, wine and spirits. Family and dog friendly.
The Studio
A bright, flexible space on our top floor, fully refurbished in 2024 with a retractable screen, surround sound, stage lighting and air conditioning. Seating up to 80, or with the floor left clear for classes, it’s used for performance, film screenings, workshops, seminars and daytime classes with bay views.
