Patrick Monahan brings new tour I’m Not a Terrorist, I’m Freddie Mercury to The Mowlem, Swanage
The Mowlem is delighted to announce the latest name in its 2027 comedy line-up: acclaimed stand-up Patrick Monahan, who will perform his brand-new tour show I’m Not a Terrorist, I’m Freddie Mercury in Swanage this April.
Sharp, warm and fast-talking, Patrick turns a lifetime of being misjudged into a night of big laughs. Born in Iran, he moved to England in 1980, and his new show draws on the absurdity of everyday prejudice, from awkward border queues to being on the receiving end of assumptions.
Patrick’s TV credits include winner of ITV’s “Show Me the Funny”, as well as appearances on Splash, Celebrity Squares, The One Show (BBC), Fake Reaction (ITV) and a Pointless Celebrities special (BBC).
Speaking about the tour, Patrick said:
“Since coming to England from Iran in 1980, if I had a £1 for every time someone called me a terrorist, I’d have enough money to run my own terrorist organisation. I’ve more in common with Freddie Mercury than Hezbollah. I’ve had visas turned down, extra checks and restricted access. I’ve 60 minutes to prove I’m not a terrorist.”
Provocative, hilarious and surprisingly uplifting, the show promises an evening of fearless comedy from a performer who knows how to win a room. With a 380-seat auditorium and a Showbar for pre-show drinks, The Mowlem is the perfect place to enjoy a night out with friends.
