The Swanage School return to The Mowlem with their most ambitious production to date, an epic tale featuring a talented young cast and a live band.

Hadestown intertwines two Greek myths: the tragic love story of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, and the turbulent marriage of immortal King Hades and Lady Persephone. When a desperate Eurydice abandons a struggling Orpheus for the safety of the industrialised underworld, Orpheus travels to rescue her, almost succeeding before a fatal moment of doubt.

This intriguing and beautiful folk opera delivers a deeply resonant and defiantly hopeful theatrical experience. Following the two intertwining love stories, Hadestown invites audiences on a hell-raising journey to the underworld and back. Inspired by traditions of classic American folk music and vintage New Orleans jazz, this beguiling sung-through musical pits industry against nature, doubt against faith, and fear against love.
